Bryan XC Dominates the Day


Bryan’s high school teams competed at the Columbus Grove Invitational on Saturday morning.

Boys varsity kicked off the day with a stellar 2nd place team performance, only 9 points behind race champion West Liberty-Salem who is ranked in the top 5 of division 3 in the state. The boys finished with a team average of 16:34! They were led by John Deitemeyer, placing 7th in a personal best of 16:11 and all-time BHS freshman best! He was followed by Colton Sheline in 12th (16:30 PR), Malaki Neilson in 14th (16:34 PR), Josiah Cummins in 18th (16:44 PR), and Elijah Cummins in 22nd (16:47 PR) rounded out the top 5. Cael Neilson was the 6th man for Bryan in 34th (17:14 PR), and Khris Alspaugh placed 43rd (17:41).

The girls team placed 9th out of 19 teams. Nicolette Stickney led the team in 19:24, placing 9th. Claire Thormeier placed 65th in 22:08, Lila Brock was 77th in 22:42 PR, A.J. Grant placed 90th in nearly a 2 minute PR of 23:21, Lily Pittman placed 92nd in a PR of 23:22, Adelyn Hake was 135th in 25:46, and Kassi McDade placed 169th in 28:29.

The JV boys were champions in their race while narrowly defeating Crestview by 2 points. They were led by race champion Nye Bradbee in 17:31. Spencer Woodward placed 3rd in 17:56, Leiv Keesbury was 6th in 18:17 (PR), Ethan Bailey was 8th in 18:51 (PR), Josh Sampson was 11th in 18:58, Max Rios dropped over a minute while placing 14th in 19:06, Graham McCague placed 33rd in 19:47.5 PR, Pedro Lugo set a personal best while placing 34th at the same time as Graham, Fred Parmer placed 35th in 19:57, Zac Schafer placed 43rd, Kyle Flanagan placed 64th while running 21:15 PR, Korbin Sammons 83rd 21:41 PR, Keaton Myers 89th 22:01 PR, Nate Root 22:01 PR, Jesse Hand 111th 23:14 PR, and Gawyn Miller was 118th in 23:56 PR.

We had outstanding performances today with 19 total personal bests between the 30 runners who competed for Bryan on Saturday!
