Bryan falls to Archbold in NWOAL Boys Basketball

Bryan Varsity score vs Archbold

Bryan 38, Archbold 49

Despite a strong start by Bryan’s boys’ basketball team, who were the aggressors in the opening 12-plus minutes against Archbold and maintained a nine-point lead entering the final stretch of the first half, the undefeated Bluestreaks took control of the game from then on. Archbold orchestrated a decisive 12-0 run in the last 3:23 of the first half, securing a 26-23 halftime lead and never relinquishing it, ultimately claiming a 50-38 victory to kick off Northwest Ohio Athletic League play at Archbold High School. Archbold coach Joe Frank credited Bryan for their early dominance, acknowledging the team’s readiness under coach Brock Homier. The win also marked Frank’s 100th career victory. Despite Bryan’s efforts to close the gap in the third quarter, Archbold’s Micah Nofziger, Cade Brenner, and Sonny Phillips played key roles in maintaining control. Bryan’s struggles with turnovers and defensive lapses contributed to Archbold’s triumph, with Brenner leading in scoring with 16 points. Although Bryan attempted a comeback, Archbold’s solid defense and assertive play secured the win. Bryan will seek to rebound in a nonleague matchup against Elida on Saturday at the Elida Fieldhouse.
