The Bryan 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams swept Paulding on Monday night. The Bears started off with a full court press and they forced many turnovers which led to points on the other end. Offensively, the Bear’s attacking the basket and relentless pursuit on the glass led to second chance opportunities which led the 7th grade to their first win of the season, 34-17. Six Bears got in the scoring column led by Hoyt McGill’s 14 points. Max Neff scored 8, Hayden Warner had 4, Xavier Oliphant 4, and Mack Inselmann Casen Herman each 2 a piece.
The 8th grade continued the trend with applying pressure to the Paulding ball handlers and forced turnovers and pushing the ball ahead to attack the basket. Each player on the team was able to record minutes without any drop off in intensity and tenacity and eight Bears found the bottom of the bucket. Ultimately, Bryan’s defense was too much and they came away with a 37-13 win. Tyler Tipton led all scorers with 10 points, Jake Arnold had 9, Evan Longoria 7, Ethan Longoria 4, Cooper Vollmer 2, Leiv Keesbury 2, Erik Dalrymple 2, and Harrison Six added a free throw.
Bryan will travel to Antwerp on Tuesday for a clash against the Archers.
