Caitlyn DeWitt clinched a spot in the State Tournament by defeating both her opponents in Port Clinton on Thursday morning. In her first match, DeWitt defeated Jocelyn Rollheiser (Oak Harbor) by a score of 6-0, 6-2. She then punched her ticket to State with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Uloedo Ezike (Lexington). Caitlyn is the first Girls State Qualifier in singles since 2008. She also increased her career win total 90, which makes her the all-time career wins leader for the girls program. She will compete in the District Semi-Finals on Saturday morning to determine her seed for the State Tournament next week at The College of Wooster.
In other action, Myleigh Andrews found herself in a hard fought match against Ana Osborn from Norwalk. After a two hour battle, she was defeated by Osborn by a score of 3-6, 3-6. The doubles team of Ava Lambert and Lucy Vashaw matched up against Malaina Wolfe and Lily Thomas from Lexington. They played several great points but eventually lost by a score of 0-6, 1-6.
