On Thursday September 25th, the Bryan 8th grade football team defeated the Evergreen Vikings 16-12 in a hard fought contest. The Golden Bears led at the half thanks to a touchdown run by Xavier Oliphant and a touchdown pass from QB Max Neff to WR Hoyt McGill. Bryan added a 2 point conversion run by London Villalovos and a 2 point reception by Ryan Carpenter to complete their scoring. The Evergreen Vikings didn’t go away though as they battled hard in the 2nd half to add two touchdowns of their own, but big stops on the 2 point conversion tries by the Golden Bears defense maintained their lead. With just over 5:00 minutes to go in the game, the Bryan offense was able to get the run game going driving in down the field to chew out the rest of the clock before taking a few knee downs inside the 10 yard line to end the game. The Bryan offense was led on the ground by Ryan Carpenter and London Villalovos while Hoyt McGill led the team in receiving and Max Neff in passing yards. Leading the way for the Bryan defense was Hoyt McGill, Max Neff, Ryan Carpenter, Travon Koonce, Xavier Oliphant, and Sawyer Bumgartner. The Bryan 8th grade football team is now 2-2 overall and they will host Swanton next Thursday (5:00 p.m.).
