The Bryan girls tennis team experienced its first loss of the season to perennial powerhouse Ottawa Hills on Thursday evening. The loss dropped the Lady Bears’ record to 12-1 on the season.
Bryan’s Eden Owens captured the lone win for Bryan as she prevailed in her first singles match against the Green Bears’ top player. The match was more competitive than the final score showed as Owens (16-0 on the season) won 6-1, 6-0.
Ottawa Hills took the next two singles spots but not without a fight as Emma Schlade battled her counterpart at third singles for three sets and two tie-breakers before falling.
At doubles, the Lady Bears held their own as well. But Ottawa Hills captured a few key games to propel them to a sweep in the doubles slots.
Bryan hosts the Northwest Ohio Doubles Tournament on Saturday, September 12 at the high school tennis courts. Play begins at 9 AM.
