
For the fourth year in a row, Kate Thormeier qualified for state in the 1600m run. Nicolette Stickney punched her trip to state for the second year in a row after qualifying in the 1600m run as well. Stickney qualified in the 3200m last year.
Both Kate and Nicolette broke the previous school record of 5:09 set by Kate in 2024. The girls placed 5th and 6th, but earned the two at-large qualifications as the Lexington region was the fastest of the four. Their times were 5:05 and 5:06.
The boys 4×400 of Woodward, Kennedy, Altaffer, and Ridgway completed their season on Saturday as well, placing 7th and narrowly missing a state berth by a second while running their best 4×400 team time of the season of 3:25.
The girls 4×800 of Stickney, K. Thormeier, Richmond, and Thiel placed 7th on Thursday night while missing the final qualifying spot by only 6 seconds. They were 4 seconds off the school record and ran a season best of 9:48.
Nicolette Stickney also placed 7th in the 800m run, her 3rd podium finish at regionals.
Kate Thormeier placed 10th in the 3200m run.
Spencer Woodward did not qualify for finals on Thursday, but placed 14th at regionals.
Nate Ridgway tied for 9th in the high jump on Saturday morning with a jump of 5’10”.
Kate and Nicolette will compete at Jesse Owens Stadium next Saturday afternoon in Columbus.
