The Bryan swim team delivered an impressive performance at the Division II Northwest District Sectional on Saturday, highlighted by multiple event victories, strong relay swims, and several podium finishes across both the boys and girls competitions.
Congratulations to the girls’ 200 medley relay team for setting a new meet record. Griffin Boehm for setting a new school record in the 100 Backstroke and Nora Kunsman for setting a new meet record in the 50 free!
The Golden Bears set the tone early with dominant relay performances. The girls opened the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay in 1:53.26, while the boys followed with a first-place finish in the same event, touching the wall in 1:42.13. Bryan continued to shine in relays later in the meet, as the girls captured the 200-yard freestyle relay title (1:44.80) and the boys cruised to victory in the same event with a time of 1:31.13.
Individually, Bryan had several standout swims. Nora Kunsman led the way for the girls, winning both the 50-yard freestyle (24.02) and the 100-yard freestyle (53.34), while also anchoring two winning relay teams. On the boys side, strong finishes came from Will McCann, who placed third in the 200-yard IM and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle, and Griffin Boehm, who earned runner-up finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and contributed to multiple relay wins.
Depth was another strength for Bryan, as numerous swimmers reached the podium or scored key points, including Logan Slattery, Brendan Roberts, Joshua Sampson, Emma Elkins, Nadia Moore, and Sidney Luce. The Bears also posted solid finishes in the distance events, highlighted by Sampson’s second-place swim in the boys 500-yard freestyle.
Overall, Bryan’s balanced effort in relays and individual events resulted in one of the team’s strongest sectional showings of the season, showcasing both veteran leadership and promising performances from underclassmen as the postseason continues.
