
The Bryan volleyball team turned in a strong showing Saturday, finishing 2-1 with wins over Eastside and Delta, but falling to Edon.
Bryan opened with a hard-fought three-set loss to Edon (20-25, 25-8, 25-14). Nora Kunsman led with six kills, while Gezzy Kidston and Kelsie Thiel added four apiece. Jozie Cordy set the offense with 22 assists, and the back row was led by Kidston (15 digs), Reese Ruffer (13), and Clare Stever (12). Ava Neubig recorded two solo blocks, while Alea Shilling and Stever combined for three aces.
The Bears bounced back after their first loss with a 3-set victory over Eastside (25-18, 17-25, 26-24). Kunsman led the attack with eight kills, while Kidston added six. Cordy ran the offense with 26 assists. Defensively, Kidston tallied (16) digs, Reese Ruffer (15), and Clare Stever (10), while Thiel controlled the net with three solo blocks. Stever also chipped in two aces.
In the final match of the day, The Bears kept momentum against Delta, taking the match in 2 straight sets (25-19, 25-17). Kunsman again paced the offense with eight kills, supported by Kidston’s five. Cordy handed out 22 assists, while the defense was balanced with Shilling (9 digs) and Stever, Ruffer, and Kidston each recording eight. Thiel and Stever each dropped in two aces, while Kunsman added two blocks.
Bears are now 5-10 overall and have a big week ahead of them with home matches Monday (Defiance/Senior Night), Tuesday (Swanton) and Saturday (Van Wert).
