Bryan Varsity Golden Bears edged Perrysburg 2-1 on Thursday in a tightly contested pitching duel. Both teams were strong in the circle, but Thea Staten delivered a dominant performance, striking out 11 batters while allowing just one hit and one run over seven innings.
Bryan wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Staten roped an RBI double. The Golden Bears added what proved to be the game-winning run in the second inning after Jozie Cordy singled to center field to drive in another run.
At the plate, leadoff hitter Amiyah Langham paced Bryan with an impressive 3-for-4 performance. Staten and Cordy each recorded an RBI to lead the offense.
The Bears will look to keep the momentum going as they take on Edgerton on Friday, at home.
