Bryan Softball Defeats Edgerton, 4-0

The Bryan Golden Bears closed out non-conference play in impressive fashion Friday, defeating Edgerton 4-0 behind another dominant outing from Thea Staten.

Staten was nearly untouchable in the circle, striking out 14 batters while allowing just one hit over seven shutout innings. The senior kept Edgerton off balance all game.

Bryan wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. After a double by Amiyah Langham and a pair of singles in the bottom of the first inning, Staten drove in an RBI single to put the Golden Bears ahead 1-0.

Bryan added another run in the second inning when Langham launched a solo home run to center field, extending the lead to 2-0. The Golden Bears tacked on insurance runs later in the game, while the defense backed up Staten with a clean, error-free performance.

Langham and Staten each finished with two hits to lead Bryan offensively. Reese Ruffer drove in two runs, while the Golden Bears also showed aggressiveness on the bases, with Ana McCoy, Josey Arnold, Jozie Cordy, and Karli McDade each recording a stolen base.

Bryan will begin league play next week and travels to Delta on Monday.
