Bryce Welling’s Big Day Propels Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears Past Swanton

Bryce Welling collected three hits in four at bats, as Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears defeated Swanton 12-2 on Monday. Welling tripled in the first inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and singled in the second inning.

Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Welling tripled to center field, and Cole Carlin doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Andrew Slagle hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Welling singled, scoring two runs, and Quinn Green drew a walk, scoring one run.

Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears scored five runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Welling tripled, scoring one run, Carlin doubled, scoring one run, Green doubled, scoring one run, Rhett McGill singled, scoring one run, and John Dalrymple singled, scoring one run.

Welling earned the win for Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears. The starter allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking three. Cook took the loss for Swanton. The starter went four innings, surrendering 11 runs on 15 hits, striking out one and walking one. Miles Palmer tossed one inning of shutout ball for Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking three.

Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears tallied 18 hits in the game. Carlin, Easton Kerr, Dalrymple, McGill, Asher Sito, and Anthony Weber each collected multiple hits for Bryan Junior Varsity Golden Bears.
