
On Thursday October 9th, the Bryan 8th grade football team traveled to Wauseon and won 30-8. The Golden Bears played 4 quarters of physical football dominating the Indians on both sides of the ball. Bryan led 16-0 at half and then scored 14 more points to get a running clock going before the Indians scored their lone touchdown in the 4th quarter. The Bryan offense was led by leading rusher London Villalovos who had a monster day accounting for over 150 yards on the ground including 2 TDs and 2 2-point conversion runs. Adding to the ground and pound attack on offense was Ryan Carpenter who also had 2 rushing touchdowns and a 1 2-point conversion run. Xavier Oliphant added another long run and caught a key pass from Ryan Carpenter to put the Golden Bears in scoring position. The Bryan offensive line (Maddox Elson, Carson Connin, Travon Koonce, Kam Lakes, Harrison Spitnale, Hoyt McGill, Cooper Spieth, and Colby Beltran) had a solid game up front paving the way for Villalovos and Carpenter all game. The Bryan defense came to play with key tackles by Hoyt McGill, Ryan Carpenter, Carson Connin, Harrison Spitnale, and Max Neff. The Golden Bear defense created two turnovers off of a Casen Herman interception and Hoyt McGill fumble recovery. The Bryan 8th grade football team is now 4-2 overall and will host undefeated Archbold next Thursday at Golden Bear Stadium (5:00 p.m.).
