BMS Track & Field Highlights From Ottawa-Glandorf Hughes/Doty Invite

Nate Root vaults into a second place finish at 8ft 6in.

On Saturday April 19th Bryan MS Boys and Girls teams traveled to Ottawa-Glandorf to compete at the Hughes/Doty JH Invitational track meet against 11 other schools. Overall we had a great showing from the boy’s team who took 4th place. Some top performances on the boys side were from John Deitemeyer who took first place in the 800m (2:17.10) and first place in the 1600m (4:55.04), setting a new meet record in the 1600m! The 4x200m relay (Fowler, Decker, Haury, Benschoter) took first place (1:44.02), setting a new school record, breaking the previous mark of 1:44.63 set in 2024. The 4x800m Relay (Hutchison, Rios, Parmer, Deitemeyer) took third place with a time of 10:00.98. Nathan Root placed second (based on attempts) in the pole vault with a vault of 8”6.

Fred Parmer: 4th in the 400m (59.55)
Landen Decker: 4th in the 200m hurdles (29.78) and 6th in the 100m dash (12.27)
John Haury: 4th in the high jump (5-0)
4x100m Relay Team(Oliphant, Bonner, Pelz, Haury): 5th place (51.68)
Easton Sammons: 6th in the discus (102-11)
Carson Benschoter: 7th in the high jump (4-8)
Carson Benschoter: 8th in the 200m dash (25.92)
Connor Monroe: 6th in the shot put (35-8.75)

The girl’s team took 9th overall with top performances by the 4x200m relay (Addie King, Laycin Rodeheaver, Jozie Cordy, and Karli McDade) which took fifth place overall. Annie Kunsman took fourth in the pole vault with a vault of 7”6.
