The 8th grade football team beat Tinora 30-0 to start their season on Thursday afternoon at home. Despite multiple flags, including a long punt return TD by Landon Decker called back on penalty, and two turnovers the Bears were able to force multiple fumbles and played outstanding defense all game in the shutout. The defensive line was stellar and the Bears kept Tinora’s offense off balance all night long. Offensively the Bears overcame miscues to score 4 TD’s (Griffin Fowler, John Haury, Jake Arnold, and Tyler Tipton) and added 3 – 2pt conversions (Arnold and 2 by Ethan Longoria on passes from Arnold). The offensive line dominated most of the game paving the way for the Bears ball carriers and giving both QB’s time to throw the ball. Overall it was a good team win for the team and a great way to get the season started.
Other individual notes: Evan Longoria caused 2 fumbles and recovered one for a long run and added a sack, Izayah Britt made a huge 4th and 1 stop in the 4th quarter, Evan Cassaubon and Ethan Longoria had big gain receptions during the game, the offensive line (Connor Monroe, Saybien Brown, Harrison Six, Cooper Vollmer, Cade Kern plus their subs) all played well.
