In a masterful display of defensive fundamentals and conditioning, the Bryan 8th grade Lady Bears secured a 43-2 victory over the Evergreen Vikings. Coming off their second night of competition in a row, the Lady Bears showed no signs of heavy legs, instead delivering a high-intensity performance from start to finish.
The Lady Bears achieved a rare “shutout” from the field, successfully preventing the Vikings from making a single basket during live play. Evergreen’s only points of the game came from two successful free throws, as the Bryan defense remained suffocating through all four quarters.
Bryan did establish control early, utilizing their transition game and ball movement to score 26 points in the first half. The offensive efficiency, paired with their lockdown man-to-man defense effectively neutralized any offensive rhythm the Vikings tried to establish.
Overall, the team leaned into their chemistry, playing unselfish basketball and maintaining their energy through the final buzzer. Scorers for the night were: Charlotte Johnston and Mallie Grant lead the way with 12 points a piece. Ady Frucey had 11, Riley Bever with 4, Ryann Eickhoff and Addilyn King each added in 2 points a piece.
The girls will play again Thursday at home against Liberty Center.
