The 8th Grade Golden Bear Football team defeated Delta last night 40-12 in their first league game. It was once again a great team effort by the Bears playing solid football in all areas. The scoring was very balanced tonight. Griffin Fowler led the ground game with a 2 rushing TD’s and 2 – 2pt conversion runs. Jake Arnold threw 2 TD’s, 1 to Ethan Longoria and 1 to Landon Decker. Decker also hauled in a 30 yard gain. Longoria added a 2pt reception and Tyler Tipton ran in a 2pt conversion. Evan Cassaubon added a TD for the Bears recovering a blocked punt (Harrison Six) in the endzone for 6pts. The Bears scoring was closed out by Hunter Hancock who stuffed a Delta runner in the end zone for a safety.
In addition to Hancock’s safety and Six’s blocked punt, the Bear defense added fumble recoveries by Six and Ethan Longoria. William Weber, Izayah Britt, Evan Longoria, Taylor Pelz, Arnold, and Six added TFL’s for the Bears during the game. Oscar Telles Flores made multiple tackles late in the game for the Bears from his safety position.
Next week the Bears are on the road for a big league game vs. PH at 5pm.
