For the 2nd season in a row, the BMS Class of 2029 Football team is an NWOAL JH Football Champion. The 8th grade Bears finish the season 8-0 and finish their JH careers 15-0-1. The Bears defeated Archbold 34-8 in their finale on their home field. The Offense wasn’t perfect, but was good enough to score 4 TD’s and a 2pt conversion and the Defense added a TD of their own. Griffin Fowler ran for 72yds, a TD and a 2pt conversion. He also housed a pick 6 INT from 62yds out for the Bears D. Jake Arnold ran and scrambled for 95yds and 2 rushing scores. He also completed 5 passes including a 46yd TD pass to Ethan Longoria. Landen Decker closed out the Bears scoring with a 2pt reception in the 2nd half. Longoria, Decker, Luke Spitnale, and Gary Bonner all had receptions during the game. The Offensive line was great again for the Bears and paved the way for the skill players. The Bears that played on the Oline were: Connor Monroe, Saybien Brown, Harrison Six, Cooper Vollmer, Cade Kern, Izayah Britt, Hunter Hancock, Mason Grime, Taylor Pelz, Easton Sammons, and Mason Gineman. Great job to the road pavers up front.
Defensively Luke Spitnale added his 3rd INT of the season to end the last Bluestreaks drive to go with Fowler’s pick. The suffocating D also added a sack from Mario DeHoyos, and TFL’s from: Fowler (2), Evan Longoria (2), Arnold (2), Hancock, Dakota Herman, Taylor Pelz, Vollmer, Warren Grant, and Brown. With this game’s completion, the Bears never trailed or were tied in a game this season (after 0-0) and the starting defense gave up only 1 TD all season long.
Coach Minor and Coach Arnold want to congratulate the team on a well-earned league title and thank them for their hard work and focus this season and wish them the best of luck moving into winter sports.
