The Bryan high school cross country teams competed in super foggy conditions on Saturday morning at the Kalida Wildcat Invitational.
The girls team placed 6th out of 20 teams and 4 out of the 8 girls recorded personal bests. Kate Thormeier led with a 4th place finish in 19:03, Nicolette Stickney finished right behind her in 5th with a PR of 19:13, Arella Alyanakian placed 31st in 21:08, Eden Alyanakian placed 71st in 22:44 PR, and Kelby Knight rounded out the scoring 5 in 96th in 23:51. Bryan’s other 3 finishers for the ladies were Casey Xie in 25:20 (115th), Kassi McDade in 26:41 PR (129th), and Kate Moss with a major PR of 29:56 (168th). There were 185 girls in the race.
The boys team placed 3rd out of 20 teams, finishing 6 points behind the 1st place Lincolnview Lancers and only 1 point behind Van Wert. Xander Fackler finished in 3rd in 16:00, Braydon Buchanan finished in 13th in 17:03 PR, Elijah Cummins matched his PR of 17:09 while placing 18th, Malaki Neilson placed 20th in 17:14 PR, and Nye Bradbee rounded out the scoring 5 in a 17:52 PR, placing 41st. Other finishers in the varsity race were Tony Foust in 67th (18:39) and Spencer Woodward in 83rd (19:05).
In the boys JV race, Khris Alspaugh medaled while placing 4th with a PR of 18:31. He was followed by Ethan Bailey in 15th (19:30 PR), Brett Skiver in 35th (20:59 PR), Carter Jack in 37th (21:08), and Dawson Moore in 48th (22:29 PR).
It was an exciting day for our high school and junior high athletes. Our teams have one more invite next Saturday at Coldwater and then we will kick off the tournament season in 2 weeks from today.
