The boys had another long travel to Rossford Saturday evening, with both teams coming away with wins to have the JV and Varsity go 4-0 on the weekend. Varsity boys opened the game with a 20 point first quarter, but a halting 2nd quarter had us heading into half-time down 31-28. Leading the offense in the first half was Landon Bassett (13 points) and Gavin Jaessing (11 points) scoring all their points in the 2 quarters. Leading the offense in the 2nd half of the game was Carter Dominique who scored 20 of his team high 21 points, and Kingston Sito with 18 of his 19 total points. Carter Dominique dominated the paint late in the game, getting himself to the free throw line for 20 free throws, knocking down 14 of the 20 attempts. Four players in double figures, boosted the Golden Bears to a 69-57 win. Defensive efforts don’t always show in the stat sheets, and Hunter Muehlfeld had a huge defensive night limiting their leading scorer to only 9 points in the second half of the game. Masen Welling took 2 charges and Gavin Jaessing took a charge late in the game, all moving momentum in favor of the Bears. Rounding out the scoring was Masen Welling with 3, and Tucker Watson with 2 points. The win moves the Golden Bears to 5-4 on the season, back in action on Saturday January 4th at home hosting Montpelier.
The JV boys came away with a gritty win by a score of 35-19. With only a 19-14 lead at half time, the boys extended the lead in the 3rd quarter, winning the quarter 13-2. The 2nd half defensive pressure limited Rossford to only 5 points. Leading a multiple and balanced scoring night; Alex Diaz 9 points, Rhett McGill 8 points, Bryce Welling 4 points, Quinn Green 4 points, Cooper Beltran 3 points, and Sam Gonzalez with 2 points. The win moves the JV boys to 7-2 on the season, back in action Saturday January 4th at home hosting Montpelier.
