The Bryan Golden Bears defeated Clear Fork 5-3 on Wednesday at Clyde to advance in tournament play.
Bryan wasted no time getting on the board, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning after Thea Staten singled to drive in a run. The Golden Bears added another run in the third when Karli McDade singled to left field to extend the lead to 2-0.
Staten earned the complete-game victory in the circle for Bryan. The right-hander allowed just two hits and three runs, two earned, over seven innings while striking out nine and walking none.
Bryan collected 11 hits in the win. Emaline Slagle paced the offense with two RBIs from the number nine spot in the lineup, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Averyann Fisher, Slagle, and Josey Arnold each recorded two hits.
The Golden Bears also showed patience at the plate, drawing five walks. Fisher and Staten each had two walks. Bryan was aggressive on the bases as well, finishing with four stolen bases.
Bryan will travel to Clyde on Friday to face Lake in the Regional Final game at 5:00 PM.
